Note: Special thanks to TS Entertainment for inviting GTG to the B.A.P live on Earth concert. Since TS Entertainment hired their own staff to do their only photos and videos, there was no press for this concert (meaning we couldn’t take photos/videos once the concert began). We were honored just to come as foreign guests. Be sure to check out their DVD of the concert when it comes out!

When I go to a concert, like most people, I’m looking to be entertained. I’m looking to be zapped out of my comfort zone and transported to a new world – the artist’s world.
Why is B.A.P – an artist that debuted in 2012 – able to headline their own concert in 2013??
Let’s be frank. Kpop’s perimeter is tough as nails. It’s saturated with artists. New and emerging talents need to quickly prove in the first two singles that they can capture an audience. B.A.P did exactly that – first with “Warrior” and then with “Power” – two dynamite hit songs in a row. Hearing the songs reawakened with an earthquake of mind-altering visuals made me realize how far B.A.P has come.
To most Kpop fans, B.A.P has clearly never heard of this thing called “a break They’ve released more album singles than seasoned veteran The Wonder Girls. That ought to clue you in to how quickly they were able to ascend from rookies to well-known artists to headlining a world tour.
The minute the lights went off, the colors were down to just two – black and green. Green being the hundreds of green lightsticks featuring the Matoki character – a hardcore rabbit from the planet Mato.
Having watched the entire concert, I can honestly say B.A.P really shines when they get down and dirty with their music. They’re known for having an aggressive style, but it takes energy to pull it off for two hours.
Yong Guk, I must say. Guy was born for this. It’s rare to see a match between a rapper and an idol work, but he has the flow of a rapper and the discipline of an idol. I love seeing him in his element.
Now there was one… part in all this that we were bound to talk about the second we saw it flash on screen. We would be failing our service to you if we didn’t tell you about this.

The thing that Saraha and I first saw when it flashed onscreen was the plot for the B.A.P concert. These days, it feels like every big K-pop concert feels an itching need to have a story. The “live on Earth” concert was no exception.
Without spoiling too much of the story, planet Earth’s in trouble. Violence, pollution, poverty, all sorts of bad stuff. So will the Avengers come and save the day? Maybe in the Marvel Universe, yes, but not today. Instead, six beings from the planet Mato have come to rescue Earth. As you could imagine, yes, those six is B.A.P.
Unlike many story narratives and plot at K-pop concerts, the story was not in Korean. It was actually all in English. The concert definitely appealed to the international crowd.
The Babys get ready to get the show started. This was taken seconds before the concert started.
Like the Infinite “One Great Step” concert we attended, the story was pretty funny. And cheesy. And had some random scenes thrown in. But you know, it’s the silly stories that make the K-pop concerts more entertaining in the end. Even if they sometimes don’t make sense.
The concert itself was a blast, as B.A.P was going all-out. For two hours, they played nearly all their songs, ranging from their popular songs, to their lesser known, B-side songs. Many fans came out to support them, including a sizable international crowd from America and Japan.
There was also little rest for the young stars. There was no intermission and just a few breaks when they would talk to the crowd and drink water.
I must admit that Zelo was the star of the show. He was everywhere during the concert, entertaining the crowd not just with his voice, but his smile, mannerisms, and jokes too.
Yong Guk did incredible too. As a long time of his work back in the underground Korean hip-hop group, Soul Connection, he really brings the hip-hop flavor to B.A.P.
With B.A.P just coming out last year, they’re a group that’s on the rise. Their average age is around 18, meaning it’s just the beginning for these guys.
So awesome job B.A.P, TS Entertainment, and we’ll see you guys at the next concert!
