Young Jae Insert: "Draw B.A.P!" Zelo~ ...But everyone's already finished drawing...Interview Page 1 Translated by Nicole
Plans for their first visit are set! Bang & Zelo talk about the allure of their concert
Zelo: Yong Guk hyung, we've finally become the last pair (for these interviews).
Yongguk: At the end it's Bang and Zelo concluding things. We were doing promotions just before B.A.P debuted, fans are also getting used to seeing our 2 shots, right?
Z: That's right! Alright, B.A.P released the new single "One Shot" in February.
YG: We made this song with a very important message in mind. People are alive, they meet countless chances, but there are many times that our generation meets but misses these chances. They blame themselves and they blame others...But those people, because chances don't visit us so easily, the message we incorporated to them is to always face opportunities with passion and take hold of those chances.
Z: With the single "Stop It," we had a very cute image, but we returned to our strong image, didn't we?
YG: More than the sound, it feels like the hip hip elements became stronger, I think now. More than "Warrior" and "Power," it's a song with more furious charisma, but it's explicitly different. With this, little by little our music is changing, but I think it's a bit unfortunate that we seem to be leading with our image rather than appraisal of our musical abilities...
Z: B.A.P is really about taking on a lot of musical challenges, right?
YG: We want to try cute styles, but also dance and old school, hardcore and rock...We've tried songs in a variety of styles, but I feel it is very important for us to appeal to the general public as well.
Z: B.A.P has done music that no one but B.A.P can do, and I think the appraisal of that is why we have been able to come to Japan this time.
YG: Yeah. More than B.A.P as individuals being evaluated, it's the fans who have listened to us who are more important. With "One Shot," I thought it's not just about the music, but also about taking our performance further. Like Zelo's astounding dance for your rap part.
Z: The dance I do flying off my shoulder blades? I was thinking about that. Up until now, the release (for this single) took longer so I felt that I had to really show something upgraded. Mine and Yong Guk hyung's rap styles are also very different, so appealing to that difference, that dance was born.
YG: The MV was also upgraded. We filmed in Malaysia, and Zelo met some girls, didn't you!
Zelo: Aaah. We filmed on a yacht, and there were many girls in bikinis. (laughs) When I was finished my filming, I asked "Where are you from?" and the girl was from Brazil. But, that was my first time in a situation like that, and the conversation didn't flow, it was embarrassing, and I had a hard time...
YG: People watching the MV said "I'm jealous!" but I never want to do that again (laughs). We filmed it with a relaxed atmosphere, but it was actually really awkward. We couldn't express our words, and we felt pressure because of the models. Because it's always just guys, everyone felt it was very unnatural, and our faces turned bright red (laughs).
Z: That's right! We were in Malaysia, but it was when we were getting ready for our live performance that we got news we'd be going to Japan!
YG: When you think of B.A.P, I think we have the image of a tough dance group, but for this live concert we performed with a rock band and had fun with the groove of singing and dancing, I think. What did you think of our first solo concert in Seoul?
Z: It was like seeing a dream the whole time... For our debut showcase, there were many things that suddenly happened and gave off a feeling of carefree excitement, but this time, as the day of the concert neared, I was getting worked up and standing on that stage I was so excited.

YG:
Rather than singing towards a camera on television, I prefer a concert where I
can enjoy and have fun with my fans. I think I can relax and get rid of my
stress in concerts. What kind of thing left you a strong impression with you,
Zelo?
Z:
Everything! Everything was memorable for me. I was able to run around the stage
and did what I wanted to freely, I guess.
YG: For
me, the part where members read their letters out to the audience struck me the
most. But I’ll stop it here, because it still touches me a lot. (laughs)
Z: I
wrote a letter to my parents…. and well, cried while reading it. (laughs) When
I was young, I wasn’t good at being dependant on my parents, and I didn’t like
it when my parents came to see my performances. But living away from my family,
I started to miss them a lot. I never expected to have these feelings, so I
decided to write a letter without thinking deeply, and read it on stage, a
letter which I seriously wrote to my parents. Yongguk hyung, you revealed your
abs to the fans!
YG:
Because I promised that I would reveal them, if we won the Rookie of the Year
award. (laughs) It’s too bad that most of the attention went towards my abs,
when it also was the first time for me to perform the song I composed to the
public.
Z:
Yongguk hyung worked hard on training and building his body for that day~
YG: I
went on a diet rather than work out, because I thought abs would look better
without body fat.
Z: Hahaha,
you really looked great!
YG: Holding
a live concert requires a lot of preparations for us, but I think it was much harder
for the staff than us. We were able to create a perfect stage because all the
staff worked so hard on every detail, starting from stage set up, images, and
lightning illuminations. It wasn’t only us, but because we were able to cooperate
and work together as a team, the concert was successful.
Z: We
are finally going to meet our Japanese BABYZ who have always supported us!
YG:
B.A.P is going to hold a live performance for the first time in Japan. We’ve
been saying that we really want to visit Japan for a long time, but it’s
finally becoming a reality. See you soon in Yokohama!
