YJ : Youngjae
Last month, B.A.P tranformed from warriors into teenagers in love. The two main vocals of B.A.P is here to explain their song, titled “Crash”. Other than having the same role in the group, they are both the same age and have many other similarities. This month, we will have Daehyun and Youngjae to explain their relationship with each other!
There’s a mysterious member in B.A.P that they can’t understand completely?
DH : This is the second time we are doing a Daehyun x Youngjae interview. Speaking of which, our babys ship us as the “Yongdae” couple! (T/N ; it’s the same as daejae just that it’s the korean way of saying it)
YJ : It is because we are best friends, our babys always see pictures and videos of us together alone. The truth is that we are obviously not on a date or dating! [Laughs]
DH : This month, Youngjae joins me on this attachment to find out more about B.A.P. I think that we should really talk about each other. I know that I have a high ego, so I take a long time to open up to others. Youngjae is really good at socialising with people. While making friends, he is also aware of the lines he can or cannot cross. That is what I really respect about him.
YJ : Oh I see. Daehyun is that type of person that can’t resolve problems which can originally be resolved just by talking, because he becomes unapproachable due to his ego. [Laughs] For me, I would quickly want to clear the misunderstanding. I wouldn’t force my opinion on the other person but would try to communicate further with the person to reduce further conflicts?
DH : Hmm. Even though I know that’s my problem, it’s difficult to work around it…….
YJ : Nevertheless, Daehyun is good at acknowledging our members’ existence. Even though we are younger than him, he knows what we can and cannot do and he takes good care of us. He is a good big brother. I feel that he is very good at supporting us but however he gives off a different feel from Yongguk’s hyung’s support.
DH : We are right in the middle of the group so we have to be aware of both the younger members and the older members. [Laughs] Youngjae is like soya milk in B.A.P because bread is tasteless without soya milk to dip in. He’s that piece that cannot be missing.(T/N ; i am so done)
YJ : To me, Daehyun’s existence is also something that cannot be replaced. The person that I talk to the most is Daehyun. Even when there are problems or question, I will go straight to Daehyun and talk about how to resolve it. We understand each other’s problems and frustrations so we help each other out about it.
DH : We are the same age, and also have the same postion on the group as main vocal, but our biggest similarity is that we have a huge passion for music. Because we are both main vocals, we normally do voice practice loudly in the car. We also wake up early together to practice.
YJ : From predebut to now, Daehyun has always been the one to wake up earlier than me. [Laughs] We also think alike and have the same point of view on principles and values, right?
DH : Although we have many similarities, we have different styles of singing. Ah! What’s the name of that soulful ballad, is it “What My Heart Tells Me To Do”? It is that type of song that is full of sadness and I think that Youngjae showcased his vocals beautifully in that song. It might be because Youngjae grew up listening to this genre of music so he is good at portraying it.
YJ : What I am good at differs alot from what I am not good at, therefore I am working harder on it. Daehyun, however, has very good basic techniques so he can sing any type of genre excellently. Especially “Warrior”, his voice was exceptionally good. During recording for “Warrior”, due to the genre being different from what I am used to, recording was very tough for me. If I am given the choice to have someone’s voice to use for this song, I’ll choose Daehyun’s voice.
DH : When the members are listening to the song, they can also differentiate and suggest which parts I should sing and which parts Youngjae should sing.
YJ : Daehyun has the explosive type of vocals, but I think I am better matching the rhythm when I sing so we are able to synchronise beautifully in a song.
DH : By the way, who is the member that is the most mysterious…… It is not me right?
YJ : It used to be you, but you are more outgoing and expressive of yourself now so your mysteries have been revealed! [Laughs] I will choose Jongup because I have no idea if he is the genius or the idiot? [Laughs] (T/N ; it is a wordplay in chinese and roughly translates to this so technically he is not calling Jongup an idiot)
DH : That’s right. He is really mysterious. Sometimes, Jongup is really brainy and sometimes he is just a riddle. For example, he asks questions like “Why is ink black?”.
YJ : Yes! This is something everyone who take it for granted (T/N ; the ink question), yet he asks this type of questions. Sometimes I really don’t know how to reply to his questions and everyone will get caught up in discussing his question!
DH : I think it is really impossible to see through Jongup. [Laughs]

Youngjae ah, as the brain of our group, if only you were more interested in political affairs and society issues. Grow up faster, I want to discuss this with you!
