Concert Review from MeRadio

B.A.P Live on Earth Singapore

If there was a thing that B.A.P showed during their B.A.P Live on Earth Singapore concert on Thursday night, it would be that their group name, Best Absolute Perfect, was beyond apt for them.

Hit songs galore

Opening the concert with their debut single ‘Warrior’, it is hard to imagine that the boys had only been in the scene for 20 months. Transforming from the then-blonde rookie sextet, the talented boys captured everyone’s attention immediately with their strong vocals shining through the powerful dance moves in ‘Warrior’, ‘What the hell’ and ‘No Mercy’.

Yet just as everyone was getting used to the fast tempo songs, B.A.P threw the crowd into a series of ballads, belting out ‘I Remember’, ‘Secret Love’ and ‘Rain Sound’, which showcased how versatile these members could be. Even with a few technical bloopers, it was not hard for the fans to enjoy the boys’ near flawless vocals.

Not wanting to leave anything out, the concert set-list also wrote in other hits such as ‘One Shot’, ‘Power’ and ‘Punch’, injecting rush after rush of adrenaline into the concert hall as the fans screamed to the boys’ each and every in-sync move.

Yet more than just hit singles

As much as B.A.P is known for their hit releases, the members also proved to the fans that they could rock just about any song thrown to them.

Vocalists Dae Hyun and Young Jae did their rendition of R.Kelly’s famous ‘I Believe I Can Fly’, giving the song a new life with their smooth vocals. It was as if the duo was having a battle of vocals, hitting all of the high-pitch notes and crisscrossing the song with powerful ad-libs.

Not to be overshadowed, Zelo and Jong Up came in after with a medley of ‘Teach me how to dougie’ and ‘Never give up’, exciting fans with their immaculate dance moves. Just as we thought that was it, the boys, decked in boyish school uniforms, rapped and sang along to the songs, all while dancing close to the edge of the stage for the fans.

Last but not least, leader Yong Guk transformed into a DJ before breaking into the rap in his low, husky voice for ‘Sexy Clap’. And as if that wasn’t insufficient for the fans present, Him Chan joined him on stage as the duo danced and teased fans with their immaculate coordination on stage.

Sincere charms

Obviously more comfortable speaking in Korean, B.A.P tried their best to speak in English to the Singaporean fans, with Yong Guk and maknae Zelo helping to translate into English whenever the other members spoke in their native language. It certainly helped when their introduction videos, which let on more about the members, had the descriptions written in English as well.

Not only so, the playful boys egged each other on in showing a different side of themselves during the concert. Fans were thrilled when lead vocalist Dae Hyun did a rap verse in response to the leader’s claims that he is unable to rap.

The concert hall was constantly erupting in fangirls’ screams when Zelo did the famous “Gwiyomi” to show off his ‘aegyo’ (loosely translates to ‘acting cute’), leading to the manly Yong Guk doing his version of the cute song. It ended with Dae Hyun being coerced into doing his adaptation, abruptly ending it when the poor boy was too embarrassed to continue.

Four encore tracks later, the adrenaline-packed night came to an end. Thanking the staff and the fans present, the boys unwillingly exited the stage, but not before throwing some of their towels to the still-excited fans.

It was definitely an unforgettable night for the fans, especially for the lucky handful that got these exclusive presents.

Youngjae also swiped his hand across the sea of babyz's hands during Crash.
During Crash when babyz reached out, Yongguk touched a few hands.
During Crash, the babyz in the front row stood up and rushed to the front and began reaching out to the boys.
Yongguk looked pissed off when his mic was faulty during Power.
Jongup smiled at us and urged us to dance with him during Crash, in the "help me help me" part.
Himchan looked at us for about 3 times, and it seemed like he was checking to see if we knew the lyrics.
Daehyun smirked at us during "What the Hell" when we were waving our lightsticks at him.
Zelo spotted our combined heart shape and made a heart back at us in "Goodbye".
Himchan & Youngjae had a lot of eye contact with the fans in the front row, including us during the first few songs
The boys performed a total of 19 songs for LOE in Singapore!!
