B.A.P, 6 Boys Who Have Comeback As 'Badmen" Cookie Interview

Tension came over me before I could meet the 6 men of B.A.P who instantly took on a powerful image after revealing their title track 'Badman'. I only saw them with their low voices, tall stature and overwhelming charisma on stage so I thought they would be the like that in reality. However, when I saw the 'no-makeup' face of these 6 boys, they were innocent and pure. 

When I immediately asked “Do you like the album?”, they were flustered. Himchan handed over their album while saying, “We've only been asked to introduce our album, it's the first time getting a question like that. I like it because it seems like the coolest album out there that have come out.” If your used to B.A.P's music being strong and having impact, you'll like the new additions in this album. Daehyun said, “I like the title track the best.”, really strongly recommending 'Badman'.

This album has all the accumulated experiences they got while on their 'B.A.P Live On Earth Pacific Tour going starting at 4 cities in America, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong last May 7th. The leader Bang Yongguk delivered his impressions by saying, “While on the tour, each member advanced in their lives, and of course their stage manner. We not only became stronger in teamwork, but we also matured. Everything that we collected, we put into 'Badman'.”

When they first debuted, they didn't rest but for the first time, before the release of 'Badman' they took a break for 6 months. When asked if they were anxious, they answered in one voice, “We've never rested.” They only rested in not coming out with an album, they kept coming out with the tour and performances. The member Zelo whined in an adorable way saying,“It was physically very hard. Because I'm tall, it's more obvious when I'm tired than the hyungs...but I did my best not to show I was tired for 2 hours.”

The Pacific Tour itself was a great challenge but B.A.P's greed is in something greater. “We want to go on a bigger tour after this album does well. We want our name to be known everywhere as musicians, and artists. While on the concerts, we each developed. I'm curious as to how much we can develop.” (Daehyun)

“We're going to debut in Japan soon. The performance culture in Japan is very developed and their music market is very big. We really want to be active there. An Arena Tour has been decided and I'm already feeling tingly.”(Himchan)

As I talk and talk to the 6 boys now 'Badmen' B.A.P, who came back with their title song 'Badman' and don't come out that often in variety shows, my interest deepens. They were serious in their low voices when they talked about their album but when they're playing around there are no other over-indulgers.

When asked if it was tiresome for all six of them to sleep in one big room in their dorm, Daehyun waved his hands saying, “There's nothing like that. Since we're always around each other we're like a family now. A strong relationship even if there really isn't anything. We can have a really long conversation about something small. If you look at us, the third party person would probably be bored.“ Himchan added, “We talked all day about the one topic of 'UFO's are real'.” Daehyun laughed to that and said, “Like we're little boys.”

Just looking at the way they talk to each other, you can see their 'Code of Humor' is very unique. When saying he was the youngest out of three brothers, he said, “I'm the person who built the brick house,” instead. When asked what he was talking about, he took the fable of the 'Three Little Pigs' to talk about how he was the youngest. Youngjae explained, “you have to know us some time in order to think we're a fun team. We laugh like crazy at jokes like this but other people don't find it that funny.”

Hanging out with the 6 members all day, I asked who was the biggest troublemaker and they started to study each others faces before Himchan threw his hand up saying “I am the troublemaker!” Daehyun secretly hinted that he's very hateful when he plays tricks on the younger members and so they do it back to him but he leaves saying, “Hey, don't do that, I'm your hyung.” When I asked Himchan, “Who doesn't listen very well?” he voluntary gave himself in. “I do not listen to what Yongguk hyung says!” Fortunately for Yongguk, Himchan uses the same bed as Jongup, and Yongguk uses the same bed as Zelo. A bunk bed is required as all 6 members share one room.

But they do not fight. Yongguk confessed, “We do have disagreements but we do not fight; we talk it out. When we rest we play together; even when we're overseas we play together in the hotel pool. All six of our 'Codes' match. When we go on our over seas tour, we go as if we're on vacation. When we were on our American tour, we even went shopping together.”

“While on the tour for 6 months, we even had a break. But we don't do things outside. We either worked out or practice at the office.”, said Youngjae as he also pointed out that the most special schedule is 'skincare', showing me that this group is very exemplary. Yongguk added, “We may seem like very boring idols to others. But we have a lot of fun with each other.”

Daehyun said that because of that, the worries of the fans are as 'high as the mountain'. Because of their unique code of humor, it doesn't pass very well on mainstream variety shows. “If we were to come out on a variety show we want to be on one where we have to use our bodies. Programs like 'Running Man' or 'A Real Man'. Yongguk hyung is perfect for Janghyuk sunbaenim's role.” At that Yongguk chatted on saying, “I've even suggested that our members go training at a Marine boot camp.”

“We like working out. Diets? We don't do that...we have competitions over food. If we eat alone it feels like only we would gain weight so we feed each other. Once in a while when a member feels the need to go on a diet, we get in the way of each other and we end up eating a lot of late-night snacks.” (Daehyun)

“Our psychology is to get fat together if we're gonna gain weight. But the funny thing is we don't eat much. Together we eat 2 chickens.” (Yongguk)

Whatever they say, when you look at B.A.P's schedule, they can't seem to gain weight even if they eat late-night snacks everyday. Youngjae ended the interview by saying, “We have activities scheduled to the end of the year. I think the fans will be great anticipation. Our goal this year is to get along well without getting hurt and ending it all well this year”

“After our debut we've been going on continuously. This year we're gonna run with 'Badman'. We will show our more developed selves.” This is the resolution of B.A.P who will be finishing up their 'Pacific Tour' with a concert in Seoul.
